It must be the heat that’s giving me a serious case wanderlust these days.  Here are a few “must haves” I’m eyeing in hopes of a getaway (or two) this summer.

Hideo Wakamatsu “Jelly Bean” Trolley

I’m so bored with my black suitcase, which is practical but no fun. Not to mention it looks like everyone else’s at baggage claim.  So I must have one of these “Jelly Bean” pieces. These lovelies spin on all four wheels and are surprisingly lightweight for a hardcover suitcase. And with colors like bright green, orange and yellow, no one will mistake your bag for theirs. Though that doesn’t mean they won’t try to claim it.

Elizabeth and James Espadrille

You know those Olson twins are tiny, itty-bitty things. I think that’s why they can design a shoe that has a bit of height but is still comfy and stylish.  Now, I’m 5’ on a good day, so I’m all over these. Bless you, Mary Kate and Ashley!

Happy-Go-Lucky1 Travel Bags

I’m loving this Etsy shop that sells cute little travel bags – everything you need for packing shoes, laundry and delicates.

Nook Color

While I’m partial to actual books over electronics, they can be a bit heavy to travel with. I might have to break down and get a Nook. That way, I can get on the plane, start reading, and be somewhere else before we even take off.

Taste of Maui

February 18, 2011

So Maui isn’t the island that LOST was filmed on, but it has it’s own magicalness about too. Maui, Hawaii is the second largest island. My boyfriend and I visited Maui in the off season, December, and it worked out really good. A few showers were had, but hey even in paradise a little rain just contributes to the magic. … Read more

Taste of the Best Po-Boys in New Orleans

August 3, 2010

A friend of mine was planning a trip to New Orleans and asked me to name the best po-boy place there.  I explained that question was similar to asking a Houstonian to name the best Tex Mex in town – there are a lot of great choices, but it comes down to personal preference.  So, while I know there are… Read more
