Advice for a Timeless Wedding Dress

Charm + Curation

There is always so much pressure when picking out a wedding dress. First of all it’s expensive, it’s somewhat revealing, and everyone has an opinion about what looks good on you.

My niece is getting married next summer and we’ve been giving our input (when asked) about picking out a wedding dress. The style, color of white, and trends. I decided to put together some advice for picking out a wedding dress that stands the test of time.

1. The Season You Are Getting Married In

Make sure you understand the climate you will be in so your dress is comfortable for that season.

2. Your body style

Understand your figure and find a style that fits you and highlights your best features. Don’t try to fit the dress – you will be miserable. You want to be comfortable and be happy.

3. Color of white

White has many hues and you need to find one that will go well with your skin tone and the lightening of your venue. White comes in tones like pure white, diamond white, eggshell, ivory, and even champagne.

4. Do not follow the trends

Stay away from the trends and stick with what looks good on you. I feel that if you are true to your figure and form you will look gorgeous and your pictures will  look timeless.

Here are 4 styles that I think look lovely, of course there are a ton of designers to choose from but these caught my eye:

1.Tulle Princess Ball Gown By Monique Lhuillier
Style: Classic princess, off-the-shoulder gown, with a layered peplum skirt.

2. Romantic Princess Ball Gown by Lazaro jlmcouture.com
Style: A romantic lace bodice with beading and embroidery details flows into a full tulle skirt.

3. Modern Lace Gown by Alvina Valenta alvinavalenta.com
Style: Ivory Alencon lace sits over taupe satin-faced taffeta, V-neckline and subtle three-tiered skirt.

4. Beaded lace motifs by St. Pucchi stpucchi.com
Style: Romantic Alencon lace adorns this gown that includes a tulle skirt with beaded lace motifs throughout.

The main image is a gown by Lazaro who designed my wedding dress. If you like a whimsical and magical look take a peek at the collection.
