This post is inspired by the PANTONE color of the year.
“In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going — perfect to ward off the blues,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum.”
PANTONE picked Honeysuckle as the color of the year. Simply put, Pantone is the universal color matching system for everything on Earth. (from digital technology, fashion, home, plastics, architecture and contract interiors, to paint) They’re kind of a big deal.
Let’s celebrate 2011 and infuse Honeysuckle into everyday life by using our 5 senses!
TASTE:
New Years Eve is right around the corner! Perfect time to try this cocktail. “This is an updated version of the little-known classic Honeysuckle with Absinthe Cocktail from David Embury’s 1948 The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks.”
Ingredients
1. Ice
2. 2 ounces white rum
3. 1 or 2 dashes of absinthe
4. 3/4 ounce Honey Syrup
5. 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
Directions
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add all of the remaining ingredients and shake well. Strain the drink into a chilled coupe.
SMELL:
Try the addicting scent of Marc Jacobs for Women. You’ll smell like you just bathed in honeysuckle, jasmine, and gardenias. This is one of the perfumes I keep in my yearly rotation, trust me it’s good.
TOUCH:
Ok, so if anyone knows me, you know I’d find a way to showcase Pumas eventually. Pumas feel good. And the Cell Tolero Satin Women’s Running Shoes modern styling will turn more than a few heads. Ta da! Run your heart to better health in 2011 and stay in the spirit of Honeysuckle at the same time.
Prefer a slower pace? Take a walk through the park, and sport a stylin´ super soft hat by Nobis this winter. The Ms Easy in Virtual Pink is a sure thing.
SIGHT:
If you’re headed out for some afternoon time off the grid, don’t forget the most vital accessory… sunglasses. Check these by Dolce & Gabana. Everyone needs a pair of aviators.
Are you staying home? Try using your interior decorating skills and the Honeysuckle color to update a room. The photo of the table and lamps is sure to inspire. I fell in love with it. Pink, black, patterns and more patterns. I love that layered look.
HEAR:
And now to complete our around the world Honeysuckle using our 5 senses, I’ll leave you with Ella Fitzgerald “Jazz in Montreux ‘79″ singing Honeysuckle Rose.
Hope you enjoyed these ideas on how to infuse color into your life. Try it, it’s fun! What are you going to do to make this year courageous, confident, and vital?

It is a lovely color and the song! Love it.

Two things.
First, I always thought Honeysuckle was a yellow…
Second, there is a “Color of the Year”? I totally thought I invented that idea with my #ThemeColor that I pick every year to go with my #ThemeWord. Now I feel so unoriginal.

Awww, well yea you pick YOUR color of the year. What color you want to be in 2011 isn’t dictated by Pantone anyways.
