A 50th Wedding Anniversary

Anniversary

Description

My parents celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary this year. Instead of recreating a reception with hundreds of friends and family they decided just to spend it with their children and grandchildren. So off we all went to Lake Travis to celebrate 50 years of marriage and family!

We chose 1 night to celebrate their anniversary. The rest of the time we were on the lake swimming or taking boat cruises. We took a couple of outings to the near by caverns and visited Flat Creek Winery that was around the corner from us.

At night we would all play card games, diminos, or just hangout and watch movies. It was truely a great time and memory as well as a tribute to the 50 years of marriage of our parents.

Invitations / Decorations

For decorations we borrowed from some of the richer darker colors of summer to mimic Fall colors for October (which is when they were actually married).

For the table we used white linen, tea candles, and small vases with an assortment of flowers.

Using the crown invitation suite I created 3 print outs that were placed on each setting for Welcome, Love, and Menu.

Party Favors / Activities

Dancing! We played Pandora with stations like Dean Martin, Italian hits and Rosemary Clooney.

1. Cutting the Cake
2. Mom and Dad danced and we joined them

Food / Beverages

The entire family pitched in to make this menu happen. It was a lot of fun and everyone enjoyed it.

- Assortment of Cheese (Brie, Blue, Gruyere), fruit, and Toast

- Pistachio Crusted Goat Cheese on Mache with Port Poached Figs and Grilled Pears with Balsamic Vinaigrette

- Filet of Beef with Bearnaise over Gorgonzola Polenta, and roasted Asparagus

- A two tier white cake with a thin layer of pineapple between the cake and royal icing (the cake was to mimic what they had on their wedding day)

Beverages
Champagne: Veuve Clicquot
White: Burgundy, Puligny Montrachet
Red: Bordeaux, Château Gloria, Saint-julien
